(Most Recently Of Swanton)

Donna Marie Brankel, age 89, most recently of Swanton and formerly of New Mexico, California and Arizona, peacefully was called home to her Lord and Savior, Wednesday morning, October 29, 2025.

She was born in Waynoka, OK on February 20, 1936, to Pastor Ennis Lee Surratt and Lela (Stockton) Surratt.

After graduating high school and attending college she married Pastor James D. Brankel, her brother’s best friend growing up, on January 1, 1955, in Moorland, OK.

Together, Donna and James were blessed by the Lord with three children, Stanley, Alexa and James Brankel. Donna, a pastor’s daughter and pastor’s wife, shared in the responsibilities of her husband’s ministry throughout 52 years with the Assembly of God denomination.

She and her husband served 11 years of ministry in New Mexico, 9 years in San Diego, CA and lastly in Tucson, AZ. As a gifted and talented artist, one of her fondest hobbies included drawing houses and churches.

Donna also enjoyed shopping, especially at her local goodwill store. Most of all, she loved sharing in fellowship with her church family.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Dale Brankel; daughter, Alexa Robin Brankel and brother, Norman Surratt. She is survived by her son, James Stacy (Alicia) Brankel; brother, Hubert (Terry) Surratt; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

There will be no public services locally. Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.

Those wishing an expression of sympathy, may provide a memorial contribution to continue the ministry of her granddaughter, Devynn Brankel with Missions Door, 20118 N. 67th Ave., Suite 300-616, Glendale, AZ 85308 or through her giving link at www.missionsdoor.org/missionary/brankel-devynn/

Online condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home’s website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com
