LOOKING AHEAD … Edgerton Village Council members discuss upcoming meetings.

The Edgerton Village Council met on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 at 5:30 pm. Mayor Day began the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer.
Roll call got underway with council members Sharon Blinzler, Jason Gruver, Lance Bowsher, Leslie VanAusdale, Pam Wampler, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, Administrative Assistant Amanda Knecht, and a few members from the community present. Council member Chuck Wallace was absent, and Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles joined remotely by phone.
Next up was the approval of the meeting minutes from August 21st, 2024. VanAusdale motioned to approve, seconded by Blinzler.
Mayor Day reported that the Hess family had reached out and was touched by the ongoing support given to them by Edgerton and surrounding communities after their son Levi Hess recently passed away in a car accident.
Fitzcharles joined remotely and commented that Fire Chief Scott Blue was working with her on fire contract renewal for St. Joe and Milford Townships and that the Oak Street Project was almost complete and in the beginning of October some repairs for the Industrial water tower would be beginning.
Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht passed out the bills and receipts for the council to review. She also informed the council members that currently budgets are being prepped with different village department heads.
She asked the council for a motion to approve a revenue receipt from the Ohio Department of Development and issue payment for an invoice to August Mack for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield Remediation Project. Bowsher motioned to approve seconded by Gruver.
Next on the agenda is the motion to approve the retirement of Fire Captain Chris Fritch effective September 2nd, 2024. He was a member of the department for over 36 years. Motion to approve by VanAusdale seconded by Wampler.
A motion was also presented to accept a professional services proposal with Beilharz Architects for the Edgerton Community Center. Motion to approve by Bowsher seconded by Gruver.
The third and final reading of the Village of Edgerton Ordinance No. 1143 an ordinance providing for a dedication plat of Stadium Drive Extension. VanAusdale moved to approve, seconded by Wampler. This ordinance was adopted and approved.
The village council meeting adjourned at 5:50 pm. The next village council meeting is Wednesday, September 18th at 5:30 pm. There is a Tree Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th at 5:30 pm.
