The Edgerton Village Council meeting, held on July 24, began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a prayer from Mayor Robert Day.

Council members Leslie VanAusdale, Jason Gruver, Pam Wampler, Sharon Blinzler and Lance Bowsher were in attendance.

In the first order of business, council voted to table the meeting minutes from the July l8 meeting, until the next council meeting, on August 18.

Mayor Day then swore in the new Edgerton Police Chief, Kenneth Jacob. Jacob had served with the Williams County Sheriff’s office for the past 23 years.

In the administrator’s report, Dawn Fitzcharles stated that after successfully completing Module One Level, line worker Jeremy Wright has been promoted to Module Level Two. Wright must complete four Module Levels before he can become a Journeyman.

Next, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht presented the bills list, for July 24. Council then passed the paying of the bills.

That was followed by council approving the first reading of Ordinance 1124, which establishes the time and place of regular village council meetings for the Village of Edgerton.

The month of September will represent the first change of the new schedule. The new meeting dates will be announced after the second reading of Ordinance 1124, at the next council meeting, on August 18.

In September, council will begin meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, at 5:30 p.m.

There will be a special council meeting, because of an EMS levy committee presentation, on Thursday, August 10, at 5:30 p.m.

The next regular council meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 18, at 7 p.m. Council then voted to adjourn the meeting.
