The Edgerton Village Council met in regular session on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.

Following roll call, all council members were present: Jason Gruver, Leslie VanAusdale, Pamela Wampler, Brian Bowsher, Chuck Wallace, and Sharon Blinzler.

Also in attendance were Mayor Bob Day, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, intern Casey Everetts, and Police Chief Ken Jacob.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, and approval of the March 18, 2026, meeting minutes before moving into communications.

During reports and discussion, Mayor Day issued an Arbor Day proclamation and commented on the success of the village’s recent Big Trash Day.

He also noted that local Spanish students assisted Mike Kimpel with scrap collection as a fundraiser toward their 2027 trip to Costa Rica.

Administrator Fitzcharles shared that the village’s new community building will be officially named the Lewis E. Brown Community Center, with plans underway for a grand opening celebration.

She also reminded council of several upcoming events, including the June 27 truck pulls, the July 18 Homecoming, and the October 3 Fall Fest.

Committee updates were provided by the Rules Committee, Tree Commission, and the Wage and Compensation Committee.

Under fiscal matters, council approved payment of bills on a motion by VanAusdale, seconded by Bowsher.

In his report, Chief Jacob addressed the need for increased officer compensation and reminded residents that April 25 will mark the DEA Drug Take Back Day, with a collection bin available in the village for unused medications.

Under resolutions, ordinances, and motions, council considered multiple items, including Police Department Employment Status Forms, approval of the Community Center name along with rates and lease agreement, approval of the Software Solutions VIP Cloud Agreement, and authorization of payment to August Mack for work related to the Edgerton Metals Brownfield Remediation Project. A motion to approve was made by Gruver and seconded by Wampler.

Council also approved two resolutions:

-Resolution No. 2026-004 authorizing participation in the ODOT Road Salt Contracts awarded in 2026.

Kidston Family Companies

-Resolution No. 2026-005 authorizing consent for the Village Administrator to enter into and execute contracts with the Division of Transportation for PID No. 101283 related to the SR 49 resurfacing project. This motion was made by VanAusdale and seconded by Wampler.

Council entered executive session at 6:30 p.m. to discuss matters related to the appointment, employment, transfer, promotion, or compensation of a public employee.
