KEEPING HISTORY ALIVE … Mayor Day presents thank you plaques to Edgerton historians Karl Mavis and Ron Sechler.

The Edgerton Village Council met on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 at 5:30 pm.
Mayor Day began the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Roll Call got underway with council members Jason Gruver, Lance Bowsher, Leslie VanAusdale, Pam Wampler, Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, Administrative Assistant Amanda Knecht, and Police Chief Ken Jacob. Council member Sharon Blinzler was absent.
Also in attendance were Edgerton Historians Karl Mavis and Ron Sechler and some members of the community including new police Auxiliary Jeneatte Rude and her family.
Next up was the approval of the meeting minutes from October 16th, 2024. VanAusdale motioned to approve, seconded by Gruver.
Mayor Day said that the TNR trap neuter release program was over for the year and that 16 cats were fixed.
The Edgerton Village Council wanted to thank Historians Karl Mavis and Ron Sechler for all the information they passed on to the Edgerton Historical Society.
The gentlemen were handed plaques by Mayor Day and thanked again for their knowledge and service to the village and the importance of the past.
Fiscal Officer Denise Knecht passed out the bills and receipts for the council to review. Motion to pay the bills was made by Wallace and seconded by VanAusdale.
Next on the agenda was the motion to approve the hiring of police auxiliary employee Jeneatte Rude and the reclassifications for Austin Cape and Randy Mohre. Approved by VanAusdale seconded by Wampler.
A list of motions were presented to the council read by Denise Knecht and Dawn Fitzcharles. Motion to approve a Then and Now purchase order.
Motion to approve revenue receipt from Ohio Department of Development and issue payment for invoice to August Mack for the Edgerton Metals Brownfield Remediation Project.
Motion to approve change order number one for the Oak Street resurface Project. Motion to approve the above made by Wallace and seconded by Gruver.
Fitzcharles explained the AMP Circuit Rider Program and how it helps the village when emergencies occur such as trains hitting power lines which has happened in Edgerton before. The program costs $960 per year.

Fitzcharles also asked the council for a motion to approve a modification to contract 23-00386-010 Village of Edgerton Pedestrian Safety Improvements. The modification would keep a contract with the Environmental Design Group.
The village has posted job openings for the Street and Park Department and out of seven qualified applicants, Luke Gary accepted the position as a full-time village employee and Devin Herman as a part-time employee for a rate of $20 per hour. Both are residents of Edgerton. Motion to hire was made by VanAusdale and seconded by Wampler.
For council discussion, Fitzcharles advised that fall leaf pickup would continue until Thanksgiving and then start back up in the spring for anything left over.
The village council meeting adjourned at 6:12 pm. The motion to adjourn was made by VanAusdale and seconded by Bowsher.
The next village council meeting is Wednesday, November 20th at 5:30 pm. There will be a Park Board Committee Meeting on Wednesday, November 13th at 5 pm and the Lighted Santa Parade is planned for Saturday, November 30th.
