The Edon Chamber of Commerce held its first board meeting of the year on January 12 at Mudsock Glass, with President Tonya Loughborough calling the meeting to order.
Chamber leaders reviewed financial updates, discussed membership changes, and outlined early planning items for Edon Days.
A key announcement from the meeting is the Edon Days Town Hall 2026, scheduled for Monday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at Mudsock Glass. Chamber officials said the town hall is intended for anyone who wants to host an event or be involved with Edon Days in any capacity, and attendance at the meeting is required for participation.
In the treasurer’s report, the Chamber noted that a certificate of deposit (CD) was opened/joined. The Chamber also reported that the Edon Days band check has cleared and that “Rekt” is officially booked.
A $40 refund related to a liquor license is still pending and will require follow-up. The Chamber also noted that a debit card has not yet been received.
During the secretary’s report, the Chamber said thank-you notes were received from livestock participants. Membership renewal forms are expected to be sent out by mail by the end of the month, and the Chamber encouraged residents and businesses to share the membership form with anyone interested in joining.
The board also discussed and approved an increase in annual membership fees to $50 for organizations and $25 for individuals.
Additional discussion included insurance benefits through NOAC, with the status of the bill to be confirmed. The board also reviewed expenses including the Chamber’s post office box and stamps.
A banner purchase was discussed, with follow-up needed with Stars & Stripes Graphix regarding damaged Edon banners.
In new business, the Chamber explored adding Venmo and PayPal as payment options, and a motion passed to move forward with offering those methods. The board also discussed setting up a Google phone number.
Edon Days entertainment planning was also addressed. The band is currently scheduled for Friday, and the Chamber discussed adding Saturday entertainment as well, potentially including various smaller performers.
The board set vendor fees for upcoming events, including a $25 vendor fee for “Small Town Shop Around” and a $50 fee for food vendors. Both fees were listed as non-refundable.
The Chamber also discussed a new policy related to Edon Days participation, stating that organizations not participating in planning meetings may not be able to participate in events at Edon Days. Chamber leaders emphasized the need for more direct and timely communication.
Bills discussed included confirmation that the band check has cleared, the pending $40 liquor license refund, and a post office box bill that is due.
The meeting was adjourned, with the next meeting scheduled for Monday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at Mudsock Glass, which will also serve as the Edon Days Town Hall.
