EDON – The Edon and Pettisville BBC rivalry is not young by any stretch of the imagination, but it has been a while since a score as lopsided as the one from December 14 was posted. The Pettisville defense, known for their tenacity, iced Edon shootist Sydney Stoll to a mere six points en route to a 43-28 BBC win.
An early 9-5 disadvantage for Edon expanded into a 14-point deficit at the half. Against the trapping press of the Ladybirds, the difference was too much to overcome.
Dana Fricke put in 13 points for the 4-2/2-1 Lady Blackbirds, with Jordyn Pursel getting 8 points and Lauren Hostetler and Mikala Avina each landing 6. Audra Klopfenstein had 5 points, Patrice Smith 3 and Amber Loar 2 points.
Andrea Headley led Edon with 8 points. Hannah Brehm-Gutting had 7 points, Stoll and Kaitlin Chrisman had 6 points apiece, and Alex Kiess added a free throw.
“It was a nice win for us tonight,” said Pettisville Coach Jason Waldvogel, adding, “I think we played well defensively. Audra Klopfenstein and Jordyn Pursel did a nice job limiting Sydney Stoll’s good looks at the basket.”
