Estella Louise Sinkey, 81 years, formerly of Stryker and Pioneer, passed away, Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier. Also known as Louise, she was born August 24, 1931 in Alger, Ohio the daughter of the late Ralph and Ida (Taylor) Grant. She was a 1949 graduate of Alvordton High School. Louise married Donald P. Sinkey on May 31, 1952 in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1994. Louise worked at the former Champion Plastics. She then worked as a telephone operator for GTE for 12 years, retiring in 1982. She also owned her own dog kennel. Louise loved to knit and crochet. She also enjoyed going to casinos and spending a little of her money. Her passion was spending time with her family and doing various activities with them.
Surviving are her two children, Randy (Mary Cetnarowski) Sinkey of Hillsdale, Michigan and Becky (Greg) Scheffel of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Michael and Alan; one great grandson, Cody; two brothers, Neil (Julie) Grant of Alvordton and Kenneth (Scottie) Grant of South Bend, Indiana; six sisters, Alvera Borton of Bryan, Beulah Borton of Alvordton, Katherine Montague of West Unity, Marlene Grant of Alvordton, June (Butch) Hansen of Wichita, Kansas and Glenda Balser of West Unity. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, one son, Robert Sinkey and two brothers, Theodore Dale and Delbert Grant.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home –Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan where funeral services will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Samuel Wickard officiating. Private interment will take place in Shiffler Cemetery, rural Bryan.
