Phase 1 of the Evergreen Athletic Expansion Project has been completed with occupancy being granted. With occupancy being granted, the school began to move equipment into the space weeks ago. Numerous items are still needing to be brought in with numerous items already on order.
Phase 1 of this expansion gave the school numerous new opportunities for an improved athletic program. Numerous features were obtained including a renovated PE locker room, new varsity locker room, an expanded weight room, film room, and 2 additional official locker rooms.
Construction for this project began this past Summer in July and was completed in February.
Now that Phase 1 is complete, Phase 2 can finish on time. Phase 2 focuses on the opposite side of the gym which covers the female athlete’s side of the facility.
Phase 2 will feature a renovated PE locker room as well as a coaches locker room, varsity locker room, and an additional changing room.
Features on the Phase 1 side will be universally available in order to be as big of a benefit as possible. The film room is a unique feature for a high school to have. It will provide the opportunity for Vikings to perform film analysis and game planning.
The room can also be used as a flex space for academic needs. The revamped weight room also allows for more athletic training and sports medicine/rehabilitation options which will help to prevent injuries.
Athletic Director Derick Stoup explained that everything being done now could not have been done without the support of the community.
“We are extremely appreciative to our community for everything that has been done. The support for our Viking athletes has been amazing. Athletics are not at the forefront everywhere.”
“To have a community improve on already great facilities to make them better is unique to Evergreen and it is because of the continued support from the community.”
Phase 2 is expected to be complete around the beginning of June. The Evergreen Highschool is planning on holding an event for the renovated athletic space for members of the public. The date for this has not yet been set.

WEIGHT ROOM… The expanded weight room still has more equipment to be brought in. There is however already a good amount of equipment inside the room with more room now available.
