The Evergreen Board of Education approved several personnel, financial and operational matters during its July 20 meeting as the district continued preparing for the upcoming school year.

Following the roll call and Pledge of Allegiance, the board approved the meeting agenda and minutes from its June 22 regular meeting.

The board accepted the district’s financial report and approved related financial items, including a $100 public donation.

The treasurer reported that the district had completed the fiscal year in a favorable financial position. Several personnel recommendations were approved for the 2026-27 school year.

The actions included administrative, teaching, counseling, food service, transportation, supplemental and coaching contracts.

The board also approved a three-year administrative contract, effective Aug. 1, for elementary principal Zeb Frank and high school principal Brady Ruffer.

The board also agreed to enter into a contract with Baker’s Propane to purchase propane at $1.190/gallon plus all applicable taxes, fees and charges for the period of July 15, 2026, through July 1, 2027. Last year’s price was $1.150/gallon.

The board authorized the superintendent and treasurer to maintain and revise the district’s transportation routes and stop list as necessary during the school year.

The board also authorized the purchase of two 72-passenger propane school buses at a total cost of $278,202.

High school athletic pass prices were approved without an increase from the previous year. Student passes will continue as last year.

Superintendent reports focused on staffing, facilities and school safety. District officials said nearly all positions for the coming school year had been filled, with maintenance remaining as needed. New staff orientation is scheduled for Aug. 6.

Summer work continues throughout the district’s buildings. Officials said the facilities are expected to be ready when staff members return Aug. 17.

The district also plans to conduct school safety drills during the coming year. Administrators and the district’s school resource officer are scheduled to hold a safety meeting Aug. 12.

New school-zone signs have arrived and are expected to be installed before classes begin.

Board members also discussed scheduling a tour of district facilities, possibly before a regular meeting in August or September.

The board scheduled a special work session meeting for July 23 at 5 p.m. With nothing further, the meeting was adjourned at 6:17 p.m. The next meeting will be held on August 17, 2026, at 6 p.m.
