Evergreen Earns First Win Of Season By Defeating Swanton 34-14

Evergreen 34 Swanton 14

METAMORA, OHIO-Evergreen’s running game led by Brock Hudik and Payton Boucher was the difference as the Vikings knocked off Swanton 34-14 for their first win of the season. Evergreen took control early with Hudik scoring on a 28-yard run and Boucher found the end zone with a 65-yard scamper to make it 14-0 Evergreen after one quarter.

Evergreen stretched their lead to 21-0 at halftime after a Boucher to Hudik 12-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Swanton scored the first points of the second half with Trent Weigel throwing a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kayden Davis to cut the Evergreen lead to 21-7.

The Vikings would regain the momentum though as Boucher found Jacob Riggs on a 12-yard hook up to stretch their lead to 28-7 going to the final quarter. Each team added a score in the fourth with Weigel scoring for the Bulldogs on a two-yard run and Hudik scored for Evergreen on a nine-yard run to close out the scoring for both teams.

Evergreen finished with 301 yards on the ground paced by Hudik who had 163 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns and Boucher had 138 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. The Bulldogs offense was led by Weigel who finished 18/27 passing for 172 yards and a touchdown while Cole Mitchey hauled in five catches for 72 yards.
