Fayette Local Board Of Education Fills Staff Vacancies At June Meeting

The Fayette Local Board of Education convened in regular session on the evening of June 22.

As part of his report, Superintendent Erik Belcher introduced Ms. Jenna Ford to the Board. Ms. Ford has been teaching preschool at the Fayette School through the Northwest Ohio Education Service Center (NwOESC), but with the receipt of $129,000 in preschool related grants, Mr. Belcher announced that she was set to become a member of the Fayette staff.

In financial matters, Treasurer Ms. Kelly Bentley reported that the District had received a long awaited $22,000 from a Medicare claim. In other financial matters, the Board approved donations of $5,376.90 from the Parent Support Group for the Class of 2016 Senior Activities and Graduation; $20.00 from Deb Leininger, and $1,000.00 from Pepsi for student activities – High School principal fund; $60.00 from the Fayette Foundation for the Academic Awards Ceremony, and $324.00 from the Fayette Athletic Boosters for track pole vault.

In matters pertaining to students, the Board moved to approve Dylan Stannard as the 2015 Nora Nash Smith Scholarship Recipient. In related actions, the Board approved the Income Eligibility Scale for Free or Reduced-Price Lunches for fiscal year 2016, the Elementary and High School student handbooks, and an addition of $20.00 for 8th Grade Ag Education Class student fees for 2015-2016.

The Board also approved a Workers’ Comp Group Participation renewal for 2016 policy year through the Northern Buckeye Education Council, and a contract with the NwOESC to provide services to Fayette Local School for fiscal year 2016. The Board approved low bids from Nickles Bakery and Reiter Dairy for 2015-2016, NWOCA Membership Fees for 2015-2016, and a five-year contract with Current Office Solutions to provide copiers and service for $965.27 per month, plus additional annual costs for exceeding predetermined copies calculated in the price.

The Board agreed to contracts with NwOESC to provide Mentor Program and services for 2015-2016, the Tri-Rivers Educational Computer Association for CISCO academy for fiscal year 2016, and the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Training and Rehabilitation Center for 2015-2016, at a cost of $38.00 per student, per week day.

The Board approved Dr. James Williams for bus/van physicals for 2015-2016, a resolution submitting to the Electors of the School District the question of a renewal .75 mill tax for purpose of the current expenses of the Normal Memorial Public Library for five years, to be placed on the November 3, 2015 ballot. An addendum to the contract with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local #21 dated July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2017 was approved, specifically Article XXXII – Wages, where the classification of Preschool Assistant Teacher was added at a wage of $15.00 per hour.

The Board adjourned into executive session to discuss personnel matters at 7:30. Upon returning to regular session at 8:19, the Board approved the Coaches Athletic Handbook for 2015-2016.

Accepted were the resignations of Audra Roesti as Family Consumer Science teacher effective June 30, 2015; Geoffrey Gilmore as Junior High girls basketball coach for fiscal year 2016, and Charlotte Loetz as Language teacher as of June 30, 2015.

The Board agreed to one year contracts with Jenna Ford as preschool teacher for fiscal year 2016, on Bachelor’s column, step 1; Timothy Morr as Intervention Specialist beginning July 1, 2015, Master’s Column, Step 0, and Jacqueline Davis as Language instructor beginning July 1, 2015, Master’s Column, Step 5.

In other actions, the Board moved to approve Geoffrey Gilmore as a summer school instructor at $20.00 per hour, Monday – Thursday from June 15, through June 25, 2015; Tyler Downing as Junior High Cross Country Coach, and Carrilyn Johnson as Junior High Cheerleading Coach for 2015-2016, and Katie Borer as a volunteer Cheerleading Coach for 2015-2016 pending proper background and reference checks. The Board extended one-year contracts to Barbara Figgins as Athletic Director, beginning July 1, 2015, for an annual salary of $8,000.00, and Jason Ohlemacher as Assistant Athletic Director, beginning July 1, 2015, for an annual salary of $3,000.00.
