(October 6th, 2014)-MORENCI: Making the trek to Michigan, the Lady Eagles of Fayette took on Morenci.
From the offset, the match was tight. The first set saw the Lady Eagles fall 24-26. They regrouped in game 2, taking the set 25-18. The seesaw affair continued as Morenci won game 3 25-23. On the brink of losing the series, Fayette responded with a 25-21 victory in game 4. A game 5 was needed to determine a winner. It was a close set, but the Eagles dropped the decisive set 10-15.
The 33 assists and 20 digs of Hannah Machacek were vital to Fayette staying in the game. With 14 kills and 3 blocks, Jessie Wheeler had much success patrolling the net for the Eagles. McKenzee Schaffner’s astounding 39 digs also played a pivotal role in the Lady Eagle effort.
