
COUNCIL Mayor Dave Borer presents his mayors report and lists off numerous upcoming events taking place in Fayette

The Fayette Village Council held their meeting on Wednesday, November 22nd. The meeting began at 6:02 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
Council first moved to approve the current agenda, which included the addition of Resolution 2023-008 and a new change order.
Council then heard from member Brittany Theis as she gave updates for various goings on around the village. The planters throughout the village have been transitioned into their winter mode, decorations have been put up and more branches will be cut and added to the planters for height.
Work is still being done for the Winter Market with vendor slots almost getting completely filled. New businesses have also been added to the crawl and Fayette-themed baskets are being made.
The mayor’s report came next with the following items being stated. The Bean Creek Valley History Center is still selling calendars that feature Gorham Township Barns.
Spots are still being offered at no charge for the Lights at Harrison Lake. Spaces are offered for those who would like to set up lights, with a deadline of December 3rd to apply. A Trans-Siberian Tribute will take place at the Fayette Opera House on December 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
The Fayette Elementary School will be holding their Winter Christmas Program on December 5th with preschool through 2nd grade performing at 6:30 p.m. with 3rd and 4th-grade students going on after. 5th and 6th-grade students will then hold their Winter Band Concert on December 7th at 7:30 p.m. at 7:30 p.m.
Income surveys have been sent out for village residents to fill out, with houses chosen at random. These will need to be filled out and turned in as soon as possible.
The school’s Fayette’s Got Talent will be taking event will be taking place on December 20th with the show starting around 12:45 p.m. The administrator’s report came next, with the following items being discussed.
Information regarding the Phase 1 Water Project was given. Progress has been made with the excavating needed, the first hydrant and insertion valve was put in along with water lines to the east of the small softball diamond.
A State Funding Questionnaire was filled out to apply for funding that will apply to years 2025-2026. It was also stated that House Bill 33 will provide for more water and wastewater funding, which is where the $10 million grant was awarded from.
Village Public Works employees have also been working closely with the excavating crew which has resulted in money saved.
The VFO’s Report came next, with the being stated a number of additions to the bill list took place. This resulted in a new list being printed and presented to council members.
Discussion then took place regarding an upcoming Tax Ordinance Change, with changes needing to be made due to House Bill 33. Council then moved to pay bills in the amount of $73,860.00 before moving to approve the following items.
The first reading of Ordinance 2023-14 repealing existing sections 166.062, 166.094, and 166.10 (C) of the Codified Ordinances of Fayette, Ohio and enacting section 166.062, 166.094, 166.10 (C), and 166.27 of the Codified Ordinances of Fayette, Ohio and declaring an emergency.
The first reading of Resolution 2023-08 authorizing the village administrator to enter into and execute an agreement for emergency management services with the Emergency Management Agency for 2024.
The third reading of Ordinance 2023-12 repealing existing section 941.01 of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of Fayette and enacting Codified Ordinance section 941.01 establishing revised water and sewer rates.
The third reading of Ordinance 2023-13 repealing existing section 941.05 (d) of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of Fayette and enacting Codified Ordinance section 941.05 (d) establishing revised water meter fees and declaring an emergency.

The following legislative actions were also approved. A motion to authorize Mayor Borer to sign the 2024 contract with the Four County ADAMhs Board for Dare Reimbursement. A motion to approve the 2023 License Compensation payments.
A motion to allow David Schweinhagen to transfer 136 hours of sick leave from the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. A motion to approve Change Order #2 for the Water Main Replacement Project.
Council then entered into executive session at 6:49 p.m. Upon their return, council adjourned for the evening.
