The Fayette Village Council held their meeting on Wednesday, September 27th. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.

Council first moved to approve the current agenda along with minutes from the September 13th regular meeting, September 20th Public Works committee meeting, and September 20th Finance committee meeting.

Introduction of visitors took place next with future events being discussed. A new event is being planned that is currently slated to take place on December 9th.

The event is called The Winter Market and there is hope that it will involve other local businesses in the downtown area.

It was also stated that the previously held Fall Festival went well. Visitors attending the meeting expressed they’re thanks to the village for their help with Fall Fest.

Lions Club calendars will be getting ordered by the end of the month and will cost $10 each with the option to add birthdays and anniversaries.

New Beginnings Ministries will be holding their Kickback Tuesdays starting on October 10th at 6:30 p.m. Any women are welcome to come, and PJs are welcome. The event takes place to ensure a nice time of fellowship and the application of life principles.

The mayor’s report followed next with the following items being discussed. The farmer’s market is continuing until the end of the month and the Bean Creek Valley History Center is selling calendars with pictures of painted local barns on them.

These calendars are for sale for $15. The Fayette High School will be holding their Senior Night on October 12th during the volleyball game.

The next CDC meeting will be held on October 16th at 7:00 p.m. at the high school. Recycling will take place on October 22nd at the old barn down by the creek.

Vehicles are to enter on North Fayette Street and will exit onto Eagle Street. Other items were also discussed before shifting to speak about the downtown spotlight.

There has been talk of replacing the light for some time and a traffic study was performed back in March.

The results are showing the light as unwarranted which means there will be no support from the Department of Transportation with its replacement. The item will be discussed further during the next safety Meeting.

Council next moved to approve payment of the bills in the amount of $59,491.07 before moving on to approve the following items.

The first reading of Resolution 2023-06 accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.

The first reading of Ordinance 2023-10 to increase estimated revenue for the Village of Fayette, State of Ohio, during the fiscal year ending December 31st, 2023.

The first reading of Ordinance 2023-11, a supplemental appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31st, 2023.

Motions were also passed for the renewal of BORMA Standard Plan 3 for employee health insurance for 2024, the renewal (on a voluntary basis) of the BORMA Value Plan for Vision benefits, and the BORMA Value Plan for Dental benefits for 2024.

An additional motion was also passed to hire Joshua Arvay and Michelle McDevitt as part-time police officers.

Executive session was then entered into at 6:31 p.m. with council later returning following a decision to hire a new village administrator.

Council moved to hire Bryan Stambaugh, who was currently a member of council, to the position of village administrator.

Mr. Stambaugh did exit executive session during discussions and before a decision had been made.  Following this decision council moved to adjourn.
