Florence A. Roth (1919-2012)

Florence A. Roth, age 93, of Archbold, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Sunday morning, October 7, 2012 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold. She had worked as the executive secretary at the former Young Spring and Wire in Archbold for over 20 years.

Florence was born in Fulton County on April 14, 1919, the daughter of Sam C. and Vernie (Bowman) Rupp.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. Roth in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, George; sister, Alice Rupp; brothers, Charles, Ralph and Ray Rupp.

Surviving are her children; Veryl (Norma) Roth of Huntington, IN, LuAnn (Ronald) Fielitz of West Unity, OH, Samuel J. (Evangeline) Roth of Grand Rapids, MI, Virgil (Lynn) Roth of S. Pasadena, CA, Mary Ellen (Edward) Fambrough of Titusville, FL; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A lifelong member of the Archbold Evangelical Church, she gave a lifetime of service to her church. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years, held Bible studies in her home, taught Bible classes at Zone and Fayette Schools, was involved with community migrant ministries, volunteered in a Drug and Rehabilitation Program in Alvordton, and was active in the Prison Ministries. In 1998 she was chosen Archbold’s “Citizen of the Year”.

There will be a “Celebration Life” at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Archbold Evangelical Church, with Rev. Steve Shaffer, officiating. Interment will be in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call in the Chapel at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold on Saturday from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Gideons International, Prison Ministries or Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with arrangements.
