The township trustees met in regular session June 16 at 6 p.m. with Trustees Bert Brown, Donald D. Imm, and Mark P. Trausch present, along with Fiscal Officer Courtney L. Osborn.
Trustees Allyn Luce and Paul Green were absent while attending a fire-related function on behalf of the fire department.
Although absent from the meeting, trustees noted that Luce continues to work on grant opportunities for the fire department.
One of the primary topics of discussion involved the use of liquid calcium chloride for dust control on township roads.
Trustees indicated they would discuss the matter further with Green upon his return to determine what work needs to be completed. Trustees also expressed interest in applying for the program again this year.
Trustees approved plans to apply a double coat of chip-and-seal on selected township roads. They also accepted a quote from Ward Construction for the chip-and-seal project. Osborn will submit the signed acceptance to the company.
The board approved Resolution 309, declaring the necessity of an additional levy for the Edon Union Cemetery.

Trustees noted the measure relates to an existing levy supporting cemetery operations. Mark P. Trausch made the motion, which was seconded by Donald D. Imm and approved by the board.
Trustees also discussed and approved a cybersecurity policy in compliance with Ohio Revised Code requirements. Trausch moved to approve the policy, Imm seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Additional business included the signing of checks and payment of bills.
Trustees discussed the future of an older township dump truck. During the conversation, Imm suggested giving the Village of Edon the first opportunity to purchase the vehicle if interested. Trustees agreed to research a fair sale price before making a final decision.
The board also reported that the township audit is being finalized and is expected to be completed soon.
Following the approval of minutes and completion of business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be July 7 at 6 p.m.
