WINDWOOD HOLLOW, August 14, 2014: The Edon Bombers hosted the Bomber Invitational on August 14 at Windwood Hollow off of Route 49 to open the 2014 Golf Season. This year’s field brought 11 teams to the links on a perfect weather day for the season opener. The Stryker Panthers took home top honors with a 1st place finish, besting the runner up Ayersville Pilots by 11. The story of the day on an individual basis was the North Central Eagles Senior Jordan Reeves magnificent shot on the Par 3, 148-yard # 3; Reeves recorded his 1st Ace, dropping his tee shot straight into the cup for the sole ace of the tournament.
It was an eleven-team field with the BBC’’ host Edon Bombers, Stryker Panthers, North Central Eagles, Hilltop Cadets and Fayette Eagles taking part in opening day match play. Also participating were the Edgerton Bulldogs, Hicksville Aces, and Ayersville Pilots from the Green Meadows Conference along with Emmanuel Christian, Maumee Valley Country Day and Northwood. Taking top team honors were the Stryker Panthers with a team score of 354, followed by the Ayersville Pilots at 365. The North Central Eagles rounded out the top three with a team score of 366. The host Bombers followed up in fourth with a score of 389 while Hilltop placed fifth with a score of 391. The Fayette Eagles placed ninth in the field with a score of 427.
For the “All Tourney Team” honors, it was a BBC dominated list with Stryker’s Tanner Clingaman and Hilltop’s Isaac VanArnsdalen each finishing atop the leader board with an 82 on the day and taking home top place honors. The story of the day centered around North Central’s Jordan Reeves, who tied for second place on the day with Stryker’s Hayden Clingaman, turning in an 83. It was Reeves shot at the Par 3, 148 yard # 3 hole that echoed across the course when the Eagle Senior nailed the perfect golf shot, dropping hit tee shot into the cup and recording his 1st Ace. Rounding out the top finishers, Jaron Jassco of the Hicksville Aces logged a third place finish with a 84 while Max Nihart of Edgerton and Maichael Aden of Ayersville tied with an 85 on the morning.
Host Edon’s Alex Kirkingburg led the way for the Bombers with an 88 while teammate Jim Peckham turned in a 94; Hayden Runyan finished up at 99 while Kyle Long and Michael Martin rounded the day off with a 108 and 145. For the Edon Bombers B Team on the day, the pair of Evan Fisk and Tanner Pietrykowski each came in on the day with a 112 while teammate Rupp logged a 120 bringing the Bombers in with a team score of 389. For North Central, Reeves led the way with an 83 while David Pine came in at 90. Brady Zuver also turned in a nice card at 91; Allyssa Hutchison shot a 102 followed by Dakota Pitts at 105 finishing a strong third with a team score of 366 on the day.
VanArnsdalen paved the way for the Hilltop Cadets with a first lace tie, shooting a very strong 18 with 82 on the day. Also for Hilltop, Levi Grant shot a 100, flowed up by Trevor Shipman with a 103; Colin Sabins and Zach Roehrs rounded ou the Cadet effort with a 106 and 11 respectively. For Fayette, White (107), Colegrove (103), Smith (112), Brubaker (105) and Wagner (119) combined for a ninth place finish with 427 to round out the BBC’s placement on the day. Pettisville’s Evan King and Matt Krill also shot the course turning in a 100 and 111 respectively for the Blackbirds.
