Game Summaries: Varsity Softball – Tue., April 11th, 2017

Wauseon 5, Otsego 3
The Lady Indians faced one of their toughest challenges to date by hitting the road to take on the Lady Knights of the Northern Buckeye Conference. Wauseon used some early offense, scoring one run in the first inning, two runs in the third, and two more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Otsego mounted a rally with two runs in the sixth and they scored one run in the seventh but the Lady Indians held on for their second win of the week. The Indians benefited from a two hit and two RBI night by Freshman Harlee Floss, and two hits apiece by Sophomore Alyssa Shelt and fellow Sophomore Regan Spadafore. On the mound it was Shelt with a three inning and four strikeout performance and Freshman Juli Spadfore going four innings allowing six hits and striking out five Otsego batters.

Montpelier 15, Stryker 2
Sarah Higbie pitched all five innings in the Locos BBC mercy rule win. Higbie gave up the two runs on four hits while striking out six. Maynara and Shindledecker shared pitching duties for the Panthers. Shindledecker pitched three innings allowing 12 runs on eight hits with one strikeout. Maynara was on the mound for one inning allowing three runs on two hits. No batting statistics were submitted. Landri McKelvey led the offensive power for the Locos scoring two runs, connecting for four hits driving in four runs. Getting two hits at the plate were Kaylea Peffley and Caitlin Nixon. Both players ended with a pair of RBI. Rheanna Stoy and Erin Prehop added one RBI apiece. Stryker’s four hits were turned in by Haines with two and
Wolfrum and Maynara with one each.

Delta 4, Woodmore 2
After Woodmore scored two runs in the first inning, the Panthers shut them down the rest of the way for the win. Zimmerman was two for four from the plate with a home run and one RBI. Burres earned her second win on the mound.

Patrick Henry 9, Delta 1
The Patriots won this NWOAL battle with a good offensive display. Delta scored their lone run in the first inning and were not able to answer anymore of Patrick Henry’s runs. Callahan took the loss for Delta.


North Central 5, Pettisville 4
The Eagles escaped a Blackbird comeback in the seventh inning for the BBC win. North Central had a 5-1 advantage heading to the seventh. Makayla Hayes was the winning pitcher as she threw the complete game allowing the four runs on 10 hits while striking out 10. Kyra Behnfeldt tossed the complete game for Pettisville giving up the five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Sydney McKarns had two triples for the winners while Knapp singled and doubled. Sydney Purtee led Pettisville with two singles and a double. Andrea Flory added two singles while Kenzie Morgan and Sami Tilley each connected for one double apiece.

Hilltop 11, Edon 2
The Cadets scored eight runs over their last three plate appearances to run away from the Bomber in a BBC tilt. Becca Miller smacked a home run for Hilltop to go with a single as she collected five total bases in the winning cause. Aubrey Wyse and Maddie Schaper finished with two hits apiece. Wyse continued her mastery on the mound as the junior pitched the complete game win. She gave up two runs on four hits and struck out 10. Shalyn Mason and Alyssa Maier had two hits and one RBI apiece. Mason was on the mound for five innings giving up 11 runs on nine hits while striking out six. Alea Brandt came in in relief and pitched a scoreless sixth.
