The new Habaneros Mexican Bar and Grill in Wauseon held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, August 24th. The ceremony took place to celebrate the opening of the new restaurant.
Habaneros sits in the storefront that used to be Los Mariachis but has been completely redesigned.
The new store specializes in very authentic and traditional Mexican dishes and features a full bar and items that are unique to Fulton County.
Owner Oscar Gonzalez explained that his goal was to keep everything authentic as possible and bring that to the local area. “We want it to be a shortcut to Mexico,” stated Oscar.
The menu features several items like Birra Tacos, street tacos, chimichanga habaneros, chicken and rice, and Jim nachos.
Another popular item is also the margherita flight, which comes in flight style to the customer’s table. When asked how excited he is to finally be open, owner Oscar Gonzalez stated the following.
“I don’t think words can describe how excited and grateful I am for the support that we have received from everyone.”
“We are very excited to be here in Wauseon. We find it a very unique community, and everyone has been very supportive of us since our soft opening.”
Habaneros has been open since its soft opening on July 19th. They are now open daily, Sunday-Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
