On July 7, 2019, at approximately 7:21 pm, the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a farm accident at 1021 Spencerville Road, Hicksville, Ohio.
Upon arrival, deputies found that a Dayle E. Sather, age 54, 1021 Spencerville Road, had been operating a mower along a lagoon/pond and rolled the mower into the pond. Mr. Sather was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Defiance County Coroner Rachel Rosenfeld.
The Hicksville Fire and Rescue, Hicksville Police Department, Defiance County Coroner’s Office, Defiance County Sheriff’s Office Chaplains, and Smith-Brown Funeral Home assisted at the scene.
