SOFTBALL

DIVISION III SECTIONALS

Archbold 15 Delta 5 (6 innings)

ARCHBOLD – Underdog Delta took a 2-0 lead after one inning before fifth-seeded Archbold scored 15 runs in the next five innings for a 15-5 win.

Five of Archbold’s 15 hits were for extra bases led by Natalie Nofziger with a 3-5 effort at the dish along with Reagan Kohler’s 3-5 game with three RBIs.

Jasey Spiess and Jaclyn Kohlhofer each had two hits for Delta. NWOAL co-champion Archbold will now face fellow NWOAL co-champion Evergreen in the sectional finals on Friday.

METAMORA – The fifth-seeded Evergreen Vikings jumped on Montpelier with six runs in the first inning and rolled to a 12-0 win in the sectional semifinals.

Brooklyn Richardson picked up the win in the circle and Macy Chamberlin led the offense for the Vikings by going 3-3 with a double and two RBIs.

STRYKER – Stryker led 7-0 going to the bottom of the fifth where they scored three runs to close out a 10-0 walk off win over Fayette.


Laura Leupp and Emmalee Fulk each had two hits and knocked in two runs for the Panthers.

AYERSVILLE – Edgerton built a 6-0 lead after three innings and then held off a Pilot rally in their last at-bat to end the GMC season with a 6-4 win.

Lola Giesige, Corrinne Cape, and Ella Miler each collected three hits on the night for Edgerton.

BRYAN – Lima Bath pounded out 21 hits on the night and scored five runs in the seventh to put away a 12-4 win at Bryan. Madison Grisier and Kailee Thiel each had two singles for Bryan.

EDON – Freshman Giada Rising recorded 11 strikeouts in six innings while limiting Edon to just four hits in a 15-1 non-league win.

Holly Jermeay and Kacy Connolly each had three hits for the Cadets and Lana Baker added three RBIs.

EDON – Gannon Ripke pitched a complete game and held Hilltop to just three hits while adding an RBI and double himself in Edon’s 8-1.

Ethan Steinke and Max Radabaugh each singled twice for the Bombers and Cole Vasquez added two RBIs.

STRYKER – Fayette trimmed the Stryker lead to 6-5 after three innings, but Stryker put up a four spot in the sixth to pull away for a 10-5 victory.

Matthew Froelich led the Panther bats with two hits, two RBIs while Jacob Cadwell added a double and two RBIs.

Shane Maginn had a three-hit night for the Eagles and Elijah Lerma registered two hits and two RBIs in the loss

Archbold 5 Defiance 2

DEFIANCE –DJ Newman clubbed a two-run double and Jaybe Burkle had a two-run single as the Bluestreaks broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth to knock off the Division II top ranked Defiance Bulldogs 5-2.

Newman also earned the win on the hill by tossing 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts.

Montpelier 6 Swanton 5

MONTPELIER – The Locos took the lead with a four-run fifth inning to erase a 4-2 Swanton advantage and held on for a 6-5 win. Jaxon Richmond paced the Locos lineup by going 3-4 with Grant Girrell and Jarron Dohner each adding two RBIs. Four Bulldogs had two hits apiece topped by Garrett Swank and Hunter Gowing who also had two runs batted in.

TINORA – The Indians saw a 7-3 lead evaporate before regaining the lead 8-7 going to the bottom of the seventh. The Rams responded by plating two runs to pull out a 9-8 win in non-league baseball.

Trevor Rodriguez, Ryan Marks, and Keaton Hartsock each had two hits for Wauseon with Marks also driving in three runs.

BRYAN – The Golden Bears tied it with a run in the sixth, but Whitmer was able to push a run across in the ninth to earn a 10-9 win.

Dylan Dominique, Carter Dominique, and Joe Watson each had 2-4 games at the plate with each Dominique adding two RBIs for Bryan.
