DIVISION III SECTIONALS

Archbold 15 Delta 5 (6 innings)

ARCHBOLD – Underdog Delta took a 2-0 lead after one inning before fifth-seeded Archbold scored 15 runs in the next five innings for a 15-5 win.

Five of Archbold’s 15 hits were for extra bases led by Natalie Nofziger with a 3-5 effort at the dish along with Reagan Kohler’s 3-5 game with three RBIs.

Jasey Spiess and Jaclyn Kohlhofer each had two hits for Delta. NWOAL co-champion Archbold will now face fellow NWOAL co-champion Evergreen in the sectional finals on Friday.

METAMORA – The fifth-seeded Evergreen Vikings jumped on Montpelier with six runs in the first inning and rolled to a 12-0 win in the sectional semifinals.

Brooklyn Richardson picked up the win in the circle and Macy Chamberlin led the offense for the Vikings by going 3-3 with a double and two RBIs.

DEFIANCE –DJ Newman clubbed a two-run double and Jaybe Burkle had a two-run single as the Bluestreaks broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth to knock off the Division II top ranked Defiance Bulldogs 5-2.

Newman also earned the win on the hill by tossing 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts.

Jaxon Richmond paced the Locos lineup by going 3-4 with Grant Girrell and Jarron Dohner each adding two RBIs. Four Bulldogs had two hits apiece topped by Garrett Swank and Hunter Gowing who also had two runs batted in.
