WEST UNITY – Hilltop senior Devin Dempsey recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Tiffin University.
“I chose Tiffin because the first time I stepped on campus it felt like home. I also enjoyed the fact that all the coaches treated me as a recruit, not as a number”, said Dempsey.
“The facilities that are offered at Tiffin along with the amazing coaching staff are going to allow me to become the best player that I could possibly be.”
“All of the professors at Tiffin have had some sort of experience in the field that they are teaching, and that gives me the opportunity to get a quality education.”
Dempsey received some interest from larger schools but felt like a smaller school was a better fit.
“The smaller schools were more of what I am used to, but I wanted to switch it up”, explained Dempsey.
“Tiffin is right in the middle, and I just feel like it is the best fit for me. Everything about Tiffin matched my wants and I look forward to being there full time.
“The recruiting process was definitely a journey, and I enjoyed every second of it”, added Dempsey.
“I got to meet a lot of new people at camps and tournaments and discover a lot of things I wouldn’t have otherwise known. Going to different schools and learning about the programs was very interesting to me.”
“I also got to learn a lot from coaches from all levels about recruitment. The main thing I learned about the recruitment process is that there is no need to stress about it. It is something that should be enjoyed throughout the process and not taken for granted.”
Academically, Dempsey belongs to the National Honor Society, along with being a Honor Student, BBC-Scholar Athlete, Class Officer.
On the field, he has been First Team All-BBC, First Team All-Williams County, sectional champion, district runner-up, two-time team Defensive MVP, and Offensive MVP once.
Dempsey will be studying Business Management to obtain his project management certificate. Dempsey has plans to become a project manager or coordinator for a construction company after graduating college.
