CAMDEN, MI 1/13/2014—The Lady Eagles of North Central traveled north of the state line, to take on the Camden-Frontier Lady Redskins in an interstate matchup. Riding a 17 point scoring performance from Cady Vandevorde, the Eagles would capture the victory, defeating Camden-Frontier 43-30.

North Central’s efforts were jump started early on in the contest, as the Eagles would hit a barrage of three pointers, draining four of them in the opening quarter. 12 of North Central’s 17 points in the first quarter came off of the three pointer. Camden-Frontier could do little to slow keep up with the Eagles, and at the end of the first quarter, North Central held a 17-7 lead.

The roles would be reserved in the second quarter. After hitting four three pointers in the opening quarter, the Eagle’s could only muster a single field goal in the second period. Add on to that two free throws, and North Central would only score four total points in the second quarter. As the Eagle offense was struggling, the Redskin offense got back on track, and scored 12 points, narrowing the gap to only two points at halftime, as North Central lead 21-19 at the intermission.

Defense would rule in the third period. While North Central would only score nine points in the third, their defense would shut down Camden-Frontier, holding them to only two points in the quarter. After three quarters of action, the Eagle’s lead was back to nine, leading 30-21.

It would be North Central outscoring Camden-Frontier 13-9 in the final period, allowing the Eagle’s to cement their win, 43-30.

Vandevorde lead North Central on the scoring front with 17 points. Rachel Oxender contributed nine, Sabrina Pickford and Hanna Siekmeyer both put seven points on the board, Abbey Litzenberg had two, Julia Rhinard rounded out the scoring for the Eagle’s with one.
