January 14, 2014Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

FAYETTE 1/13/2014—With seven different players scoring in the contest, the Fayette Eagles were able to defeat Fairview, downing the Apaches 45-29.

The first quarter of the contest was a hotly contested one. The Eagle’s would find themselves holding a slim 11-10 lead at the end of the first eight minutes of play.

The Purple and Gold would start to create some separation between themselves and their opponents in the second quarter. Fayette’s defense held Fairview to just six points in the second quarter of action. Meanwhile, the Eagle’s offense saw a trio of three point shots fall, helping them towards their 14 point total, expanding their lead to a 25-16 margin by halftime.

The Fayette scoring would come to a grinding halt as the third quarter began. After scoring 14 points in the second period, the Eagle’s would only be able to get two field goals to fall in the third for a total of four points. Fortunately for the Fayette faithful, Fairview’s offense also struggled in the period, only scoring five points of their own. So even with their offense struggle’s the Eagle’s held on to an eight point lead, 29-21 as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter of action.

In the fourth quarter, Fayette was able to find their offensive peak at the right time, scoring 16 points in the final quarter, sealing the deal, and moving past Fairview 45-29.

Setting the offense pace for the Eagles was Chandler Sanford with 17 points. Koby Biddix and Grant Schaffner both contributed six points each, Tyler Cox and Tristen Bates scored six respectively, Wade Burkholder and Marcus Stoltzfus both scored three, and Jared Seiler finished with two.
