Jack G. Lanius, 91 of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on Aug. 8, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1930, to the late Lila (Richardson) and Clarence Lanius in Pioneer, Ohio.
He graduated from Montpelier High School. Following high school, Jack enlisted in the newly formed Air Force and served in the Korean War in Fukuoka, Japan, as air police.
After the service, Jack became a semi-truck driver, ultimately retiring from UPS after 20 years of safe driving.
Jack loved square dancing, country music and teasing his grandchildren. He was fondly called “Boo” by his great-grandchildren for always playing peekaboo with them.
He was also a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte (Miller) Lanius; children, Cynthia (Kim) Shoup, Monica (Ken) Armstrong, Karen (Coe) Keefer, Kevin (AnnMarie) Lanius; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Yovannah Miller, Marvel (Ted) Rupp; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dwight, Dwayne, Doyle, Delores Baker; son-in-law, Steven Schmidt; and granddaughter, Charity Keefer.
A memorial service for Jack will be held at a later date at Thompson Funeral Home, 204 E. Main St., Montpelier, OH 43543.
