Karen Atkinson (1943 – 2024)

December 3, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

(Formerly Of Delta)

Karen Jane Atkinson, age 81, of Waterville, OH and formerly of Delta, peacefully passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Monday afternoon, December 2, 2024; she will be reunited with her husband, Paul; mother, Evelyn and father, Robert in the afterlife.

Karen was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 26, 1943 to the late Robert E. McGirr and Evelyn (Lindley) McGirr.

On June 12, 1964, she married Paul S. Atkinson and together they shared 50 loving years until his passing on April 23, 2014. A homemaker throughout her life, Karen was a kind soul who treated everyone with grace and understanding.

She lived a life full of love and spirituality. Karen wrote poetry and spiritual teachings that were shared with people across the globe through her blog.

She carried with her a faith in God’s love to unite humanity and continued to find God’s love within herself as well as others. She carried that love through motherhood and alongside her husband Paul, raised a son, Dave Atkinson.

She is survived by her son, David; three grandchildren, Joel, Casie and Hailey Atkinson; as well as her cousins, Janet and Sharon, who were like sisters to her.

Karen will be greatly missed here in this physical realm, but she is surely flourishing in a higher plane of existence and continues to shine brightly.

There will be no public services. Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.

Those wishing a show of sympathy may make a memorial contribution to the charity of the donor’s choice in Karen’s memory.

Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
