WHAT DAY IS IT … It may not have been hump day but this camel sure did make a splash at the live nativity scene held in West Unity. Adults and children alike all stood to take pictures and pet the animal that doesn’t make its way around our area all that often.

A live Nativity scene was recently held in West Unity that saw not only Mary and Joseph, but a few Wyse men and a camel too. The nativity scene was brought into the community through a partnership between Holly Jolly Christmas Shops and Mill District Deli.

The scene was set out on North Main Street in downtown West Unity during the evening hours of Saturday, November 16th. Mary and Joseph were represented by two students from Hilltop High School, with the wise men being well, Wyse men.

Eleana VanArsdalen played the part of Mary, with Conner Sanders playing as Joseph. Johnathan Wyse, Lynn Wyse and Matthew Wyse each played one of the Three Wise Men.

A camel and a few other animals were also there to play their respective roles. Students from the Hilltop Schools Choir also came out to sing Christmas Carols for the event.

Jason King, one of the organizers for the event, explained that they all wanted to have a nativity scene, and that the goal was to make it a community event.

Additionally, by putting on the nativity scene, it is the organizers way to give back to the community that has helped them so much over the past 25 years.
