The Fulton County Commissioners held two meetings this past week. The meetings were held on Tuesday, November 12th and Thursday, November 14th, with each meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m.
During these meetings, Commissioners moved to approve minutes from the prior meeting, as well as the current meeting agenda and payment of the bills. Budgets for various departments were also discussed, along with an objection to annexation petition 2024-4 Village of Metamora.
The objection, received by Amboy Township Trustees, was reviewed during the November 12th meeting.
A letter detailing the objection states, “To the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, Amboy Township Board of Trustees is NOT in favor of the annexation petition filed with the Fulton County Board of Commissioners on October 10th, 2024, by the owners of two land parcels of approximately 21.38 acres currently located in Amboy Township.”
Continuing, “Amboy Township is mandated to provide road maintenance, fire and emergency medical services protection. The cost of such services increases every year, therefore putting more burden on the township with less property. Village has prior annexed undeveloped land property already in this area.”
“The tax base for the township will eventually be lost completely, from these properties. Now therefore be resolved, The Amboy Township Board of Trustees votes to reject the proposed annexation of JBT Ag Properties to the Village of Metamora.”
