Anthony J. Smith, age 78, of Bryan, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Tony was a tool & die maker by trade. He was a US Army veteran who served from 1965-1967.
Tony was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church and the Edgerton American Legion Post #10. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and NASCAR fan.
Anthony J. Smith was born on March 2, 1946, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of George O. and Eva Belle (Moog) Smith. He married Betty Jean Shoudel on September 20, 1968 in Edgerton and she survives.
Tony is also survived by his daughters, Caprice (Steve) Schulte, of Celina, Ohio and Sarah (Scott) Vian, of Howell, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Alan (Marilyn) Smith of Bowling Brook, Illinois and Rex (Ella) Smith, of Bryan and sister, Georgia Ann Patterson, of Stryker. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jay, James and Jerry Smith.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 pm at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, OH. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Melbern United Methodist Church with Pastor Deb Widdowson officiating. Tony will be laid to rest at Brown Cemetery with graveside military rites provided by the Edgerton American Legion.
