FAYETTE – For those used to watching the uptempo play of Fayette, the style of the Holgate Tigers is another dimension in time and space. In the words of the father of a Fayette player, it is, “…like watching paint dry.” The strategy has proven effective as the Tigers take their opposition out of their element, but it backfired on January 19 as the Fayette Homecoming festivities included a 21-19 come from behind win over Holgate.
While the Tigers’ strategy worked to a tee against most of the Eagles, it failed miserably against Logan Franks, whose game-high 11 was the only double-digit scoring output from members of either team. The slow-down stratagem of Holgate ran into an insurmountable obstacle in the fourth period as the Eagles pitched a 5-0 shutout for the win, with Franks supplying all the offense. Zayne Colegrove hit for 8 points and Tyler Cox had 2.
