Madison Township Trustees met in a regular session on Monday, June 8. Trustees in attendance were Terry Huffman, Mark Schmucker, and Jen Zuver.
Also, fiscal officer Deb Maneval, Madison Township/Kunkle Fire Department Chief Jason Marvin, Tony Carpenter, Tyler Bryner, and Gloria Gilcher.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, trustees then approved the minutes of the May 26 meeting and the payment of township bills.
Carpenter addressed the trustees concerning the township’s one-ton truck which needs some repair work and how much the township wants to put into it.
Trustees agreed to actively start looking for a replacement of the truck. Carpenter recommended the truck includes a stainless-steel box drive using it for salt purposes.
Carpenter also suggested the township purchase an extra set of wear pads for the snowplow. He wanted to have them on hand since the township had trouble getting them last year.
Township resident Gloria Gilcher asked the trustees if anything could be done with the Cole property.
She commented that the grass on the property is overgrown, and it needs to be cleaned up. Huffman said he will look into it and will talk with the Williams County Health Department about it.
Huffman reported that he received a phone call from Pioneer Village Administrator Anthony Burnett to discuss compensation for land that Pioneer would like to annex the cemetery and dump properties in the township.
Trustees suggested that Huffman should talk with Burnett and see what the village has to offer.
Marvin reported that two new firefighters, Cody Easley and Mark Singer, have joined the fire department. He will also be purchasing additional gloves and hoods for the department.
Trustees were informed that JB Road Repair has put the township on their schedule for dura patch road repairs. The township will decide what roads need to be patched.
Carpenter also reported that the road signs have been ordered for Kunkle. The township was notified that the state audit has been completed with no findings. Copies of the audit were e-mailed to the trustees.
Next meeting will be on Monday, June 22 at 7 p.m. at the township office.
