Michelle “Mitzi” Gary (1952-2023)

Michelle R. “Mitzi” Gary, age 70, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 2:26 A.M. on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a brief illness.

Ms. Gary was a long-time employee of Rita’s Restaurant in Edgerton.

She enjoyed fishing, going to the beach and was an avid collector of stuff. She also enjoyed being with family.

Michelle R. “Mitzi” Gary was born on March 14, 1952, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Harold O. and Evelyn (Towers) Friedel.


Survivors include four sons, Shawn Witsaman, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Eric (Penny) Witsaman, of Bonita Springs, Florida, Tim (Tess) Witsaman, of Edgerton, and Luke, (Stephanie) Gary, of Edgerton; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren with one on the way; and one sister, Peggy Bishop, of Defiance, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Susan Friedel and Sarah Sweet; and five brothers, Larry, Eric, Randy, Ned and Dennis Friedel.

A memorial service celebrating Mitzi’s life will be held at a later date.


Krill Funeral Service, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, has been entrusted with arrangements.
