The Montpelier Exempted Village Schools Board of Education convened a special meeting on Wednesday, May 28th, to address a focused agenda concerning personnel actions, supplemental contracts, and insurance renewals.

The meeting was called to order with roll call by board members Nate Rose, Dunne Gambler, Patti Rockey, Troy Roth, and Jennifer Schlosser. No public community members were present during the meeting.

The session opened with a public hearing to consider the retire/rehire request of Pam Pawlowicz, Executive Secretary. Pawlowicz is set to retire but is seeking reemployment in her current position within the district.

The board held the hearing in accordance with rehire regulations that require public disclosure and discussion.

Under the employment of certificated staff, the board recommended the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Montpelier Education Association. The agreement addresses supplemental contract salaries for high school class advisors.

Additionally, also approved was contracts for the Junior Class Advisor, Carolyn Hopper, and Senior Class Advisor, E. Bess Cooley, for the 2025-2025 school year.

Further recommendations include a rescind of the continuing contract for Lester Orndorff for the following school year, effectively reversing the decision made at the previous May 13th meeting.

The board reviewed key service contracts. Members approved of the renewal of property, liability, and vehicle insurance at a cost of around $85,000. Extra coverage for pollution and cyber insurance were also passed without contest.

Following completion of the agenda, the board moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was presented and seconded by board members with the time of adjournment to be recorded in the official minutes.

All previous information was disclosed by Treasure Carla Rice in regards to the May 28th special meeting.
