Local businesses can access a summer intern program this year.
Village Administrator Kevin Brooks informed the board Harbor Consultants is offering a summer intern position for eight weeks in June and July for clerical work at no cost to the business.
In other matters:
– ODOT and Maumee Valley Planning are improving a bike trail through Montpelier.
– There is a possibility of a Farmers Market in the summer months.
The village would like to bring more activities downtown for the Bean Days Balloon Fest and would like to bring more activities to the downtown and has asked the Chamber to also be involved. The village is now a paying member of The Chamber and would like to help the Chamber during the summer intern months with clerical help.
Pastor Dave Tilly reports 2016 was a great year for the Ministerial Association and scholarships are all set. The Easter season is approaching and noted April 14 is the Good Friday Cross Walk and services, while Sunday April 16 is Easter.
The National Honor Society, including juniors and seniors, have a Little Buddy Program for children K-6 to help with social, academics or any area they need, and is going very well. Safety1st Firearms, was welcomed as a new member.
Kevin Motter will continue to serve on The WEDCO Board representing the chamber.
April 21-23 will be a bus tour to Washington for any veterans with a stop on the way back the o Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania. The cost is $428 per person.
The next meeting is 8 a.m. Friday, March 10.
