The Williams County Job and Family Services recognized a local law enforcement officer for her dedication to children during Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The JFS team named Lieutenant Jennifer Hern of the Montpelier Police Department as the 2026 Children’s Champion recipient, honoring her continued efforts to support and advocate for youth in the community.
Lieutenant Hern was selected for her willingness to go above and beyond for children in need.
Her work extends beyond standard duties, including advocating for the youth both during and after business hours. She also strives to connect families with community resources.
Hern has even taken extra steps, such as late-night shopping, to make sure children do not go without essential items.
The Children Services Team of JFS described Hern as a “light in this community” and emphasized her role in creating a safe and supportive environment for children. Her recognition as the 2026 Children’s Champion highlights the impact of her work and the appreciation held by those she serves.
