MONTPELIER: April 8– The Montpelier Locomotives hosted Edon on April 8 in their final non-conference game before commencement of NWOAL action, taking down the Lady Bombers 8-7 in a tight game. Breanna Stein recorded the win, while for the Bombers Kaitlin Chrisman was hit with the loss.
For the Locomotives, Stein went 5 on the mound allowing 7 hits, 2 base on balls and logging 2 K’s. Offensively, the Locos had a strong team output, with Sidney Houk slamming a triple and a double in the game; Taylor Wells, Christy Duchene and Regan Steffes each recorded doubles, with Wells also grinding out a single. Stein, Mikayla Schlit and Maddie Richmond also chipped in, each hitting for singles.
For the Lady Bombers, Chrisman went the distance, giving up 12 hits, allowing 8 across the plate. At the plate, Kaitlyn Manahan and Haley Jacoby powered out doubles, with Jacoby also recording a single. Alex Kiess, Nichole Newell, Carley Muehlfeld and Chrisman each hit for singles in the loss.
The win moves Montpelier to 2-0 on the season, while the Lady Bombers fall to 0-2.
