(June 22nd, 2015) – MONTPELIER: After falling to Liberty Center in game one of a doubleheader between the two teams, the Locos came back to wallop the Tigers in game two. Building a sizable lead early on, the Locomotives never looked back as they cruised to victory.

Montpelier claimed the 9-3 win over Liberty Center.

Starting the contest with a barrage of runs, the Loco boys wasted no time establishing themselves as a force. By the conclusion of the first inning, Montpelier enjoyed a 5-0 lead. They widened that gap a bit in the bottom of the second, as the Locomotives tacked on another run in the inning.

Liberty Center countered with a run of their own in the third, but the home team would not be denied. Montpelier racked up another 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning, claiming a 9-1 advantage with only a single frame left to play. Needing eight runs to force the contest to continue, the Tigers were only able to muster 2 scores.

Kolden Uribes drove in a pair of RBIs for the Locomotive bats with a triple, displaying great speed on the base paths. Teammate Dalton Surbey brought home an RBI on a single. Rising junior Colin Rockey also hit for an RBI single.

Gunnar Matson earned the win for Montpelier, staying on the mound for all 5 innings of play. In that span, he gave up only 2 earned runs off of 6 hits. The senior-to-be also racked up 5 strikeouts while giving up no walks.
