If you would stop by the Montpelier Senior Center in Montpelier, you might be surprised to see that their men and women had not just learned to play games on an electronic game console, but had wholeheartedly embraced technology and the Wii gaming system. Wii bowling is the craze for these seniors and they are pretty adept at the game.

The Center recently sponsored four teams consisting of four to five members per team for a total of 17 individuals in the 2013 National Senior League Wii Bowling Tournament. Montpelier’s seniors didn’t just do well, they did exceedingly well, with two teams emerging as Conference Champions. Both teams were awarded trophies. The tournament consisted of 280 teams with 1540 bowlers from 31 states in 110 communities. One of the Montpelier teams, the Lickedy Splits, won their division and were crowned the 2013 Regional Champions of the Midwest Super Masters.

The teams were honored on Tuesday, April 30, with a special lunch and presentation of their trophies.
