WEST UNITY: April 25 – The Montpelier Locomotives placed second overall at the 2014 Hilltop Junior High Relays on April 25.
No stats were received from Hilltop referencing the results for any of the other teams, but Montpelier Coach Jason Johnston reported on the performance of his boys’ squad, saying, “The Montpelier boys, with a somewhat depleted squad, finished a close second in the 8th annual Hilltop Junior High Relays. Earning first place finishes were the discus team of Justin Wyrick and Noah Conklin (107’), the shot put team of Jacob Bailey and Noah Conklin (59’ 11 ¼”), and the distance medley team of Kolden Uribes, Tre Hutchinson, Nate Hutchinson, and Evan Friend (16:10.8).”
Coach Johnston continued, saying that “…second place finishes were the high jump team of Evan Friend and Alex Abrams (9’ 6”), the long jump team of Evan Friend and Anthony Strubberg (29’ 11”), the 4X200 relay team of Brandon Stein, Blake Bumb, Jordan Ramey, and Austin Grubb (1:56.7), and the sprint/distance medley relay team of Jacob Bailey, Kolden Uribes, Jordan Ramey, and Tre Hutchinson (4:47.4). Third place finishes went to the shuttle hurdles relay team of Alex Abrams, Kolden Uribes, Jacob Bailey, and Brody Zigler (1:27.2), the 4X800 relay team of Garrett Witte, Nate Hutchinson, Anthony Strubberg, and Tre Hutchinson (12:01.8), and the 4X400 relay team of Anthony Strubberg, Brandon Stein, Garrett Witte, and Blake Bumb (5:21.9).”
