The Montpelier Village Council met on Monday, November 25th at 6 pm at the Montpelier Police Department conference room. The meeting was promptly called to order at 6 pm after The Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer and Roll call.

Mayor Steve Yagelski, Council President Kevin Motter, council members Don Schlosser, Nathan Thompson, Chris Kannel, Melissa Ewers, and Heather Freese were in attendance.

Village Manager Jason Rockey, Director of Finance Nikki Uribes, Clerk of Council Molly Collert. Also in attendance were Montpelier High School Government students, and some community members.

First up the agenda for the meeting was approved along with the minutes of November 12th meetings—no comments from the audience.

For comments from the council/committee, Chris Kannel said that the Olde Tyme Holiday Gathering went very well and had many people in attendance.

Mayor Steve Yagelski thanked everyone for attending the meeting and told the Montpelier government students that they were welcome to ask questions anytime.

Kevin Motter congratulated Montpelier graduate Dalton Surbey for winning State Trooper of the Year and how proud Montpelier is of him.

Next on the agenda was to approve the Bridgewater Township Fire Contract for 2025 and a Then and Now for OMH Advisors for $14,800.

Rockey explained this was a Holiday City water survey bill that Montpelier pays for and then reimbursed by Holiday City. The council approved both.

Resolution 1408 – appropriations for the 2025 Budget (Third Reading) and Resolution 1410 – Police Pension Transfer were passed also.

For the village manager’s report, Jason Rockey talked about the village auction, which made around $22,000.

He also mentioned that the Iron Horse River Trail needed some sealing finished up before the project could be closed out. Rockey also stated that letters of support are needed for the Tap grant from OHM.

The Montpelier Village Council meeting adjourned at 6:18 pm. The next meeting will be on Monday, December 16th at 6 pm.
