This musical comedy is a tale of two sisters, Claudia and DJ Stratford, who after the death of their father, return home to deal with their inheritance, which is a massive and beloved county fair in rural America.
Thinking that this could be the cash windfall that they desperately seek, the sisters plan to sell off the fair’s land to the highest bidder, the Neo Execs, and then high tail it back to civilization.
But when Claudia starts to fall in love again with her county fair, the townsfolk including Coach Roberta, Chief Dogberry, friends Bea and Ben, and an over-apologetic fair board director Harry, Claudia’s heart leads her away from her sister and down a path she’s very unprepared for.
Needing the money to pay off a large, secret gambling debt to foreign mobster Boris, DJ must do whatever it takes to sell the fair – even if that means involving her past, small-time crooked friends Bessie and Connor in sabotaging her sister’s new romantic relationship.
Betrayals, imposters, and mistaken identity lead to “sister battling sister” in a winner-take-all Messina County Dixie Derby competition, set to vocals by the pop star band leader Sarah, to save the beloved county fair!
