The North Central Local Schools Board of Education took the next step toward placing a proposed earned income tax levy before voters during its regular meeting by approving a resolution to proceed with the ballot.

The resolution proposes an additional 1% earned income tax for school district purposes as a continuing levy, with an effective date of January 1, 2027, pending voter approval.

This action authorizes the district to officially move forward with submitting the levy to the ballot.

Treasurer Ryan Pendleton noted that a more in-depth breakdown of the levy and its collections will occur in the next work session, held prior to the school board meeting, scheduled for August 18, 2026, at 5 p.m.

In other financial business, the Board approved the June Treasurer’s Report, along with a $308 donation from Nickloy’s Fix and Fab for the Backpack Program.

The Board approved an increase in the substitute teacher daily pay rate to $110 per day.

Several personnel actions were approved. Three resignations were accepted, including Amanda Doty as Intervention Specialist, Marion Allen as HS Science Instructor, and McKayla Ayers as First Grade Instructor.

The Board approved multiple new hirings as follows:

-Cyrus Jospher, JH Math Instructor

-Rochelle Magbou, HS Science Instructor

-Cory Siddle, HS Intervention Specialist

-Phyllis Johnson, long-term substitute for JH Science

-Curt Elsworth, substitute custodian

-John Shell, Bus Driver

DC Gutters

-Steve Fiser, Bus Driver

The Board also approved district handbooks for the upcoming school year, including the elementary, JH, HS, athletic, and bus driver handbooks.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:17 p.m. The next North Central School Board meeting is scheduled for August 18, 2026, at 6 p.m.
