ARCHBOLD (January 16, 2026) – Through their disciplined ball movement, a strong defensive effort, and a dominant night from Wyatt Gericke, the Archbold Bluestreaks earned a 53-45 victory over the Delta Panthers on Friday night.

Archbold set the tone early, responded calmly to multiple Delta runs, and closed the game with confidence in the fourth quarter to secure their home win.

Archbold (9-2, 1-1 NWOAL) wasted little time establishing their offensive identity, winning the opening tip and then moving the ball patiently through Tripp Langenderfer, Morgan Harris, and Maddox Pinter, attacking any gaps in Delta’s defense.

Early possessions featured long passing sequences that forced the Panthers to rotate defensively, allowing Wyatt Gericke to find space inside.

Gericke finished through contact on multiple early touches, while Archbold’s defense limited Delta to contested looks. Although Delta had some opportunities through Vincent Martinez and Alex York, early misses allowed Archbold to maintain control. By the end of the first, efficient execution as well as rebounding gave Archbold a 13-8 advantage.

The second quarter turned into a defensive battle. Delta (2-10, 0-2 NWOAL) applied more pressure on the ball, forcing Archbold to work on several possessions.

While scoring slowed down for both teams, Archbold continued to find ways to protect its lead. Harris attacked the rim to key interior baskets, and Langenderfer helped steady the offense by keeping the ball moving and limiting turnovers.

On the defensive end, Archbold focused on collapsing inside to slow down York, forcing Delta to rely on perimeter shorts that failed to fall consistently.

Delta managed just four points in the quarter, while Archbold added five of its own, sending the Bluestreaks into halftime with an 18-12 lead.

The pace picked up significantly in the third quarter as both teams came out of the locker room with renewed energy.

Delta began the half with sharper ball movement, and Martinez knocked down a three-pointer that briefly energized the Panthers.

York continued to battle inside, earning trips to the line and converting through traffic to keep Delta within reach. Each time Delta threatened to close the gap, though, Archbold answered.

Pinter drained a timely three, and Gericke followed with another long-range shot that shifted the momentum back toward the Bluestreaks.

Archbold’s ability to respond immediately after Delta scored proved crucial, as the Bluestreaks stretched the lead back to double digits late in the quarter.

Free throws and second-chance opportunities helped Archbold close out the third with a 40-30 advantage.

The Panthers opened up the fourth quarter with urgency, cutting into the lead with aggressive drives and transition opportunities. Martinez connected from beyond the arc once again, and Delta’s defensive pressure forced a brief Archbold turnover.

Still, though, the Bluestreaks remained composed. Gericke delivered one of the game’s biggest shots midway through the quarter, a three-pointer that halted Delta’s run and reestablished control of the game. Wyatt Cline added valuable minutes off the bench, finishing inside and converting at the free-throw line.

As the clock wound down, Archbold’s defense tightened, forcing Delta into more rushed possessions and contested shots. Archbold took advantage of free-throw opportunities in the final minutes and controlled the ball to close out the 53-45 win.

The 6-foot-6 Wyatt Gericke led all scorers with a standout 23-point performance, combining inside strength, perimeter shooting, and steady free-throw conversion.

Harris added nine points, while Langenderfer and Pinter each contributed six. Delta was paced by senior Alex York’s 18 points, with Martinez adding 10 in a strong perimeter effort.

DELTA (45) – Martinez 10; Alig 7; Valentine 0; Lohman 2; York 18; Lintermoot 4; Mazurowski 0; Avery 4; Totals: 13-4-7 – 45
ARCHBOLD (53) – Short 4; Krieger 2; Pinter 6; Rufenacht 0; Langenderfer 6; Harris 9; Wyse 0; Cline 3; Gericke 23; Totals: 15-5-8 – 53
