BRYAN – In a pivotal Northwest Ohio Athletic League softball showdown, Bryan’s Thea Staten tossed a one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts, leading the Golden Bears to a 6-0 victory over defending league champion Archbold.

Staten gave up a fifth-inning single by Archbold’s Daylin Bosco for the Bluestreaks’ (7-4, 1-1 NWOAL) lone base hit.

The Golden Bears (9-0, 2-0 NWOAL) gradually pulled away, scoring twice in the fifth inning and then tacking on three more runs in the sixth inning.

Pinch-hitter MacKenzie Blevins came through in the clutch, delivering a key two-run single to highlight Bryan’s three-run sixth inning outburst.

Josey Arnold went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Golden Bears, including a double, and drove in a run. Staten drove in a pair of runs with a single.
