(PRESS RELEASE) – On September 1st, 2024 at about 7:52 a.m., the Paulding Fire Department along with the Paulding Police Department and Paulding EMS were dispatched to 609 W. Perry Street in the Village of Paulding, Ohio for a two story structure fire.

All were advised that there was possibly a male barricaded inside of the residence. Upon arrival there were heavy flames and smoke coming from the residence.

Firefighters used an exterior attack to knock the fire down while other crews worked on gaining entry through the barricaded entry doors.

Once inside firefighters located a male body on the ground level of the residence. The male was identified as Daniel Lee Kent, age 47, who lived at the residence. Kent will be taken to Toledo for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The fire remains under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshall’s Office along with the Paulding Police Department.

Assisting at the scene were the Antwerp Fire Department, Payne Fire Department, Paulding Police

Department, Paulding EMS, Ohio State Fire Marshall’s Office, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and American Electric Power Co.
