Mark Allen Short, 74, passed away on August 30, 2024, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Center in Archbold, Ohio.

Mark was born on August 24, 1950, in Wauseon, Ohio to Everette Dean & Phyllis (Fluckinger) Short.

Mark graduated from Stryker High School in 1969. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Shortly after the war he moved to Florida where he took a course in golf course management, but ended up working for the Department of Corrections, State of Florida for 35 years.


Mark accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord as a youth. As an adult living in Lake City, Florida, he was an active member of The First Apostolic Church Of Lake City and enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Due to health issues, he moved back to Archbold around 1998 where he attended Turning Point Church.

He is survived by his mother, Phyllis, sister, Linda (Roger) Andrews, sister-in-law, Cookie Short and nephews, Matthew and Michael Short; Tyler Andrews; nieces Beth Short and Emily Coon. He was preceded in death by his father, E. Dean, brothers, Phil and Andy and former wife, Delores (Dee) Dunn.


There will be a visitation at Fairlawn Wyse Commons on September 11 at 2pm, followed by a service at 3pm officiated by Pastor Roger Andrews. A private burial service at Lockport Cemetery will precede the service.

Memorials may be given to Fairlawn Retirement Community chaplaincy program.
