The Pettisville Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, November 15th at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.

The High School Principal Mr. Lane first recognized Grace Remington for qualifying for State Cross Country and placing 78th at State.

Next, Board President Brent Hoylman and Superintendent Josh Clark both thanked the voters for their support in passing the permanent improvement levy on November 2nd.

The board then moved to hear any concerns from the public before moving on to the calendar hearing and consent agenda. Minutes were approved for the October meeting as well as the financial reports that were presented by the treasurer.

Payment of bills was also approved as was the hiring of Johanna Costigan for the position of substitute dishwasher. The board then heard a report from the treasurer and building principals before hearing updates from the Superintendent.

An update on COVID-19 in the school was given as well as an update for the school curriculum and the Pettisville High School Quiz Team Invitational Tournament.

A discussion then followed regarding the employment of substitute teachers. It was decided by the board to allow for the hiring of substitute teachers without bachelor’s degrees.

New substitutes must at least possess an associate’s degree. The board then moved to enter into executive session before voting to adjourn upon their return.
