TROTWOOD, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in Ohio say a man led a state trooper on a high-speed chase and has been shot and killed after pointing a gun at the trooper.
State Highway Patrol Lt. Robert Sellers says 21-year-old Joseph Bernhard-William Kiser drove past a trooper at a high speed on U.S. 35 in Green County shortly after 1 a.m. Monday and wouldn’t pull over. Sellers says the nine-minute pursuit reached speeds higher than 100 mph before Kiser exited his vehicle in Montgomery County and pointed a revolver at the trooper.
Sellers says Kiser failed to follow commands to drop his weapon and continued approaching the trooper, who then fired three shots at Kiser, striking him. The Granville man died at the scene.
The trooper is on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
